Gnosis

The light of spiritual wisdom has expressed itself in many forms, according to the needs of any particular time and place.  Those forms have been called “religions” but all spring from that one light: the source of all religion.

We call that primordial, root religion “Gnosis.” Gnosis is the spiritual heritage and birthright of all humankind. Gnosis is the exact science that leads to conscious experience of the divine. Gnosis—a Greek word for “knowledge”—is the synthesis of all the world’s religions. Gnosis is the universal balm that dispels ignorance, which is the root of suffering.

The student of Gnosis is not asked to believe anything or follow anyone. Instead, they are given practical tools that—if used sincerely—lead to personal, direct experience of the truth.

Samael Aun Weor

Our founder and root teacher is Samael Aun Weor. The name Samael Aun Weor is Hebrew and is pronounced “sam-ayel on vay-ohr.” Samael Aun Weor wrote over sixty books, gave thousands of lectures, and formed the worldwide Gnostic Movement, whose members number in the millions. Yet, in spite of his wisdom and generosity towards mankind, he said:

Do not follow me. I am just a signpost. Reach your own Self-realization.

Samael Aun Weor left his physical body in 1977.

Retreat Instructors

The instructors who lead the retreats have lived and taught Gnosis all over the world. Each has years of experience teaching and working with the practices and exercises that awaken the consciousness. In keeping with the spirit of the Gnostic goal and perspective, the lecturers do not broadcast their names, faces, or personal information, in order to reduce the strong influence that personality has in spiritual communities and to emphasize the message: "Know thyself..." The goal of Gnosis is to learn how to follow our inner Being, not any physical person. Thus, our instructors do not have spiritual titles or names, do not accept followers, and live their lives as any person in society.

The Retreat Staff

The organizers of the retreat are all volunteers who donate their time from a sincere wish to share with others the benefit they have received from the teachings of Gnosis.
