2010 Gnostic Retreat

Come together with the Gnostic community for six days of spiritual practice at Sophia Peace Center in Colorado, USA, from Monday, August 2 to Saturday, August 7, 2010.

As a Gnostic Retreat, participants will be focusing on intensive spiritual practice, whose goal is personal experience of Gnosis. Gnosis is Greek for “conscious, experiential knowledge.” The ancient science of Gnosis is a precise utilization of the consciousness, directed towards self-knowledge and the emergence of serenity and happiness. The International Gnostic Retreats focus on practical techniques for acquiring conscious knowledge within.

Retreat participants will learn about:

  • The Three Factors that power genuine spiritual awakening
  • The Value of Sacrifice and service to humanity
  • Eliminating Inner Obstacles: practical steps to radical change
  • Utilizing Awareness through Self-observation and Self-remembering
  • Awakening the Consciousness: Meditation and Gnostic Psychology
  • Insight into Reality: Samadhi or Ecstasy
  • Transmutation of Energy: Pranayama and Tantra
  • Creative Sound: Vocalization of Mantras
  • Harmonizing the Body: Runic and Tibetan Exercises
  • Inner Vision: Imagination and Clairvoyance

As with all of our previous events, the 2010 Gnostic Retreat welcomes anyone who is interested in learning about Gnosis, regardless of their race, gender, background, religious or political affiliations, or any other factor. Previous retreats have brought together students from countries all over the world, from every conceivable religion and belief, in an atmosphere of mutual respect and harmony. Read comments about previous retreats: 2009  •  2008  •  2007

The retreat program will accommodate new students as well as those with extensive experience

  • If you are new to Gnosis or spirituality, it is highly recommended that you study the Gnostic teachings in advance of the retreat, so you will have a sense of what the retreat will be about, and so you can get more from the experience. The retreat will provide you with a beginner's group focusing on introductory practices and concepts.
  • Experienced students who want to go deeper in the practice will participate in a group of like-minded students and instructors, and will dedicate more time to practice and individual self-reflection.

Retreat personal timeThe schedule will be more relaxed than previous retreats, allowing more personal and social time

  • As with every retreat, the 2010 Gnostic Retreat will focus primarily on giving you the tools to transform your life. The most important tool for radical change is meditation. We will practice meditation every day, and study the theory and concepts of meditation through lectures and group discussions. However, in contrast to previous retreats, the schedule will not be as demanding or rigorous, allowing more time for other activities.

Toddlers and children can attend if accompanied by a parent

  • This will be the first Gnostic Retreat providing an opportunity for parents to bring their children along. All lectures and practices have always been appropriate for children, but facility and staff limitations prevented us from welcoming children at previous retreats. It will be the responsibility of the parents to care for their children's needs, or make arrangements for them to be entertained while the parent is attending to their personal practice or lecture time. We will encourage parents to work together, taking turns watching children.

We will host a Volunteer Conference, matching volunteers with opportunities to help Glorian and the spread of Gnosis

  • This retreat will host a mini-conference for anyone who is interested in volunteering to help humanity receive the practical spirituality that transforms lives and opens the doors to wisdom. Instructors and students will collaborate to organize a volunteer effort to dramatically improve the spread of Gnosis around the world.

Retreat personal timeArrive one or two days early to hike with us in the mountains and visit Mesa Verde National Park to see an ancient native city built into a cliffside

  • Register for an early arrival package and spend some quality time in Nature with Gnostic instructors and students. We will travel as a group to Mesa Verde National Park, voted the #1 historic monument in the world and National Geographic Travelers "Fifty Places of a Lifetime."
